What is The Children's Voice campaign?

The Children's Voice campaign wants to make life better for vulnerable children across Europe and ultimately all over the world.

The campaign is run by The Children's High Level Group (CHLG), and aims to stamp out cruelty, neglect and abuse of young people in institutions.

In many countries across Europe, children in institutions are forced to live in cramped, unhygienic and basic accommodation. Violence and bullying are often part of their everyday lives and there are still many cases of children being chained and caged.

We want to stop these practices and work with countries to begin a process which will prevent unnecessary admissions to institutions and allow more children to grow up within loving families in their own countries.

We also want to highlight the positive changes in child welfare that are beginning to take place and are helping transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of children. Our hope is that this will create a momentum for change across the whole of Europe.

Where we work

Initially The Children's Voice is targeting a number of countries where it can really make a difference. These countries include Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Moldova, the Slovak Republic, and the Ukraine.

The majority of the work we have already done has been within Romania, setting up a number of initiatives that can be rolled out in other countries in the future. These include the Community Action programme, the Edelweiss competition, the Green Line and the Women's Health Volunteer Programme. Click here for more information..

The Children's Voice has also recently extended its work into Moldova, Czech Republic, Georgia and Armenia.
