The annual Edelweiss Talent Competition ("Floare de Colt") is a national competition for talented children who live in placement centres in Romania. Edelweiss demonstrates that talent can flourish in the most difficult terrain – like the flower bearing its name!
This year is the fifth year the competition has been run and the second year that CHLG is funding the prizes.
The competition is open to children aged 14 to 18 years from disadvantaged backgrounds, including children from the protection system, children from families with financial difficulties and children with disabilities.
The contest is promoted countywide in all schools in Romania. At each county level, the most talented children are selected in nine categories including literature, music, dance and sport. County winners then go on to compete at a national level.
The competition is organised by the National Authority for the Protection of the Child's Rights in partnership with CHLG and the Romania Ministry of Education and Research.
